We took a big step forward on this mission recently when we formed a collaboration with Mountain Middle School and science teacher Dave Farkas to introduce students to the life cycle of trout via the Trout in the Classroom project. Students will observe and care for trout as they incubate as eggs, hatch and grow before being stocked in area rivers this spring. Five Rivers and TU helped provide aquarium equipment and eggs - the students provided the enthusiasm! The project was recently the subject of a great write-up in the Durango Herald. I you missed the story when it came out, you can check out a link here: http://www.durangoherald.com/article/20131213/NEWS01/131219763/0/SEARCH/From-eggs-to-hatchlings
