Wild Rivers has developed a position paper on CAFO's.  There is one CAFO within our borders and another one is also being considered.  Please read and feel free to comment on our position.

Your position paper is extremely well done.   I live in Blanchardville in Green County - near Monroe and New Glarus.  CAFO's have located here and several more have plans to build here as well.  My neighbors and I are concerned especially about the effect on ground water and streams.  This is the "driftless area" of Wisconsin and our bedrock is "karst" which is particularly unsuited to the spreading of manure as it contains fissures which alow liquids to pass directly from the surface to underground water collections.  

Other than writing the position paper, has your group done anything else to work for changes, for example, within the DNR?  We would welcome any ideas, contacts or information you could share.
