Coming to a big screen near you

It's still a bit blustery here in the West. The only thing predictable about the weather is that it will be perfectly unpredictable. Yesterday in Idaho Falls, we endured an early spring snow squall followed by a quick downpour of rain and then enjoyed sunny skies the rest of the day. But we had to lean into that patented Snake River Plain wind to get from the truck to the bar to watch the NCAA tournament.

It's almost time to break out the flipflops and the shorts. It's almost time to start thinking about that first South Fork float. We just need a little inspiration.

Enter the Fly Fishing Film Tour

For years now, Trout Unlimited has helped sponsor this annual tour of the best in fly-fishing filmmaking from all over the world. Tonight, it comes to Idaho Falls, and it continues throughout the spring all across America, where fly fishers are itching to get out there. They just need a nudge. If the trailer above isn't that nudge, I don't know what is.

As a side note, "The Return," which focuses on the rebounding Yellowstone cutthroat trout populations in Yellowstone Lake, is featured prominently in the tour, and rightly so.

Not only is it a great story about one of the most inspiring conservation success efforts ever undertaken, but it focuses on TU volunteer Dave Sweet, who has made it his life's work to help these native trout rebound after a crash thanks to the illegal introduction of lake trout in Yellowstone Lake. If you're looking for some inspiration, this film oozes it. You don't want to miss it.

And, if you're looking for a showing of the film tour near you, here's the upcoming schedule. Enjoy.
