As always, this year was a fierce competition among the anglers to be declared the 'King of the Mountain". This year's first place winner was Chuck Farneth, who caught and released 283 inches of trout in just three hours. That is about 23 1/2 feet of fish, great job Chuck and wear that championship belt proudly. Along with the belt, Chuck took home a new TFO Legacy rod and $500. Second place winner was Matthew Cox, who caught and released 231 inches of trout. He put up a great fight and was rewarded with a new TFO Legacy rod and a check for two hundred dollars. Bringing up third place was University of Tennessee-Knoxville-"Vols on the Fly" TU chapter member, Jed Smith. He caught a total of 163 inches of trout as their representative and carried home a deluxe Simms pack and bragging rights back to campus. We wish to thank our volunteers, stream judges, and sponsors who make it possible each year to hold the "BATTLE of GATLINBURG". It is only because of their continued support and dedication that this annual event has become a success. Special shout-out to TFO RODS, Smoky Mountain Angler, Little River Outfitters, 3 Rivers Angler, and Dead-End BBQ. We also wish to thank Gatlinburg Parks & Recreation and Travis Jack Williams, manager of the Gatlinburg Hatchery. It is because of their stocking the trout during the year that visitors and residents alike have an opportunity to fish for trout just minutes away from the center of town. Again, thanks to everyone who attended and here’s hoping o see you all next year at “BATTLE of GATLINBURG 2024”.
