We are changing our location to the restaurant right next to SLYCE - we will gather in the private room at Tangled Roots Craft Beer & Kitchen - 899 N. Milwaukee Ave, Vernon Hills, IL 60061 We are thrilled to have Krystyna Kurth of the Shedd Aquarium as our featured speaker at this meeting! She has a dynamic presentation titled “Intersecting community restoration with conservation research at Shedd Aquarium.” She will be sharing the work they do throughout Chicagoland to restore areas from woodlands to beaches to rivers and how their research team evaluates the impacts of that work on local wildlife populations! Krystyna Kurth is the coordinator of conservation action at Shedd Aquarium where her team mobilizes individuals, communities, and businesses to take action for animals through restoring local spaces across Chicagoland. From chopping down invasive trees to improve local amphibian habitat to helping add manmade wetlands to the Chicago river she can be found outdoors connecting communities to the nature right in their backyard. Her passion for this work spans six years on the action team at Shedd where she loves seeing the intersection of community science and scientific research. The meetup begins at 6pm, and her presentation will start at 6:30pm. There is no admission fee to attend - dinner and beverage items are available for purchase (check out their great menu!) We will also have a raffle available with some great prizes. Tickets are available for $5 each or 5 for $20.
