This feature on WQED in Pennsylvania called "STEM in Strange Places" follows a group of middle-school aged girls on their macroinvertebrate sampling adventures. Macroinvertebrate sampling is just one of the eight core activities the girls complete to earn their STREAM Girls patch. Many troops have also used the program to work on badges, like the Citizen Scientist badge. iQ Smartparent 603: STEM in Strange Places Video of iQ Smartparent 603: STEM in Strange Places This was the first-ever program in Pennsylvania led by the Pennsylvania TU Council and Spring Creek Chapter. The program follows in the footsteps of programs bubbling up across the country. The first was in Wisconsin in 2013 and was started by a group of Wisconsin TU volunteers and TU staff. As of 2019, Scouts in six states (Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Michigan, Pennsylvania and South Carolina) will earn the STREAM Girls patch.
