Stream Restoration Project

On Saturday, June 20 UCCTU members will be helping the U.S. Forest Service with a restoration project on Jones Creek in North Georgia.  Volunteers will provide labor while the forestry pro's provide tools, equipment, and supervision.  These projects are a lot of fun and a good way to have a direct impact on the environment we treasure so much.  We hope you will be able to join us for this event.

We will meet between 7:00 and 8:00 am at Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Dahlonega and be ready to leave for the site just after 8:00.  Activities end at noon when lunch will be served on site.  We usually wet wade in old clothes that can get wet and dirty.  Bring old garden gloves for handling rocks and clothes to change into afterwards.

These trips provide good opportunities to bond with youth and expose them to environmental projects in a hands-on way.  Everyone wears hard hats and follows safety precautions.  I have brought my daughter and neice to these projects in the past.  So please feel free to bring sons, daughters, neices, nephews or grandchildren.  So that we can prepare lunch for everyone, please call Conservation Chair Bill Lott with the number of volunteers in your party:  770-641-0942.

We look forward to seeing you on the 20th.
