TU March Madness 

 

For us in TU Volunteer Operations, the madness of March is the frenzy and excitement associated with the kick-off of regional meeting season. This is the time of year when we dust off our wading boots and our PowerPoint skills at the same time – only at TU! 

 

We’ve just returned from Branson, MO where we held the first of six regional meetings scheduled this spring. TU members and volunteer leaders in the Mid-South turned out in full-force for the weekend packed with fishing, fly tying, and meeting topics on conservation issues, veteran’s services, the women’s initiative, and a lot more…. The meeting was well represented by both longtime volunteers and people new to TU, including representatives from two new TU chapters! The energy and enthusiasm of the TU members and staff in attendance was palpable. 

 

If you’ve never fished the White River in Missouri or Arkansas, you ought to add it to your bucket list. Check out this brown trout caught by TU’s Senior Advocacy Manager Zach Cockrum, who was fishing with TU Business member Dally’s Ozark Fly Fisher.

TU National Leadership Council Chair Mick McCorcle and TU Membership Engagement Manager Kyle Smith hard at work tying flies that will be framed to decorate the new headquarters office. To send in a fly that represents your chapter or council, please send it to 1777 N. Kent St. Suite 100; Arlington, VA 22209 with your chapter name, the name of the fly pattern, and the name of the tier. We will have vices and tying materials at each of the regional meetings this year.
