For more than a decade, TU has worked with Denver Water, Grand County and other stakeholders to keep water in the Fraser River, a key tributary of the Upper Colorado River near Fraser, Colorado. That hard work and dogged persistence has paid off in recent years with new guarantees of healthy water flows as well as new habitat projects along the Fraser to improve fishing.The inaugural project was at Fraser Flats, where TU, Denver Water and others restored a degraded stretch of the Fraser--the previously private stretch, about 3/4 of a mile long, is now open to the public. And the improved habitat, according to Jon Ewert, Colorado Parks and Wildlife biologist, has led to a remarkable upsurge in the numbers and size of the trout population. No doubt about it--Trout Unlimited is making your fishing better. Check out the video:
