National VSP Coordinator Alan Folger, Western VSP Coordinator Dave Kumlien, and TU volunteers Jo and Jim Borowski, led a group that included Vets and wounded warriors from the Vietnam War to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The weather was perfect, Slough Creek was in great shape, and the dry fly fishing for Yellowstone cutthroat trout was outstanding! This trip was the second National VSP trip to Slough Creek this year bringing the total of wounded warrior participants served on National VSP trips to 18. As TU members and anglers, we all know the restorative value of spending a day on the river, and and the testimonies and feedback received from the wounded warriors proved this to be the case for them, too. The healing power of mountains, moving water, and fishing was evident. The goal of the VSP program is to involve wounded warriors and Vets in TU Chapter fishing and conservation activities to help them in their recovery from their war injuries and to thank them for their service to our country. If you are interested in learning more about TU's Veterans Service Partnership program, please contact VSP Coordinator Alan Folger at AFolger@tu.org or Western Coordinator Dave Kumlien at DKumlien@tu.org. We would be pleased to help you set up a VSP program for your Chapter.
