Women in TU: Free Memberships

By Heidi Oberstadt

Hello, everyone! My name is Heidi, and I’m TU’s new Women’s Membership Coordinator. I have some great projects in the works, and I’d like to share them with you.

We’ve started a series of events titled, “Women in TU." We're hosting meetings adjacent to our existing TU regional meetings, and they are open to both men and women.

The focus of our meetings is on “Conservation-Community-Fishing,” and we will arm you with tools you'll need to help you grow (and maintain!) your women’s membership and encourage the women in TU to take a chance on becoming a leader within our organization.

My next meeting is Friday, March 28, in Dillard, Ga., right before the Southeast Regional Meeting. I also have meetings on Friday, May 2, before the Upper Midwest Regional Meeting, and Friday, May 30, before the Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting. I’m still working out plans for the Northeast Regional Meeting in June.

Another project that we have in the works is the current women’s membership drive. From March 1 to May 31, we have revived the offer to sign up women as new trial members at no cost. They can head over to www.tu.org/womenjoin and sign up anytime during this drive.

We are also proud to offer half-price renewals for women, at a special $17.50 rate. The link for renewals is www.tu.org/womenrenew, and the recruiting chapter will receive $15 of that fee as a special rebate.

To add a little incentive, TU will track which chapters recruit the most women and which have the highest rates of renewals (allocated proportionally based on chapter size.) The chapter that recruits the most women will be issued a plaque. Cash awards will be given to the chapters that have the highest rates of renewals: $500 for first place, $300 for second place and $100 for third place.

For more information about this membership drive and contest, check out this post: http://www.tu.org/blog-posts/free-tu-memberships-for-women. If you have questions… or ideas you’d like to share… or if you need help with your efforts to reach out to women, please feel free to contact me, Heidi Oberstadt, at hoberstadt@tu.org or (715) 573-5104.
