If your flybox could talk, what would it say?

A lot of us are gear hounds. We love our rods, our vests, pack and flies. They see a lot of abuse, and I often wonder what they'd say if they had a chance.

My favorite fly box, packed with four full leaves of nymphs would probably say "Help, I'm floating the down the Madison".

As of today, October 1st....my streamer box is yelling at me to string up the broom stick!!! Love streamer season!!

I see you're in the Yellowstone area. Whereabouts? 

I'm over in West Yellowstone — well, for another month or so. My wife and I are packing in after seven years and heading back to Michigan.

I usually swing softhackles on the upper Madison this time of year, but it seems like I'm going to have to find somewhere else.

Where have you been fishing?

At this time of year, my fly box is a "tale of two cities."  I have my streamer box loaded and my Baetis/BWO box ready to go, too.  On my float trips, I string two rods, the 8 weight for pitching streamers, often fished in tandem, and my 5 or my 4 for when the BWO's show up.  It's a great time of year!

Brennan, sorry to hear that you're leaving West Yellowstone.  Are you staying with TU?  I am sorry that we never got to do our "fishing meeting" together while you were here.  Maybe it'll happen in MI!  Where are you moving to in Michigan?  My wife is from MI, and i grew up in southern Wisconsin.

This time of year, my fly box says, "Really, can you totally deplete me by putting every fly i hold into a tree? C'mon man, you suck at casting!!!" 

Well, most seasons that is and this seems to be one of those seasons. But the best part is it gives me time to be in the Tenkara Man Cave tying and creating old standby's and new creations.
