Help FWP Fish for Science!

Groups audience
Friday, October 14th, 2016 - 10:30am to Friday, October 14th, 2016 - 3:00pm
Ladd Knotek, fisheries biologist from FWP needs our help. They have stocked Spook and Hidden lakes with 2 different species of cutthroat. They wish volunteers to fish most of a day and see which of the 2 species are easier to catch.

The lakes are in the Seeley Swan near Placid. If you wish, can use small boats, float tubes, pontoons, etc. that can hand launched to cover more of the lake. Lunch will be provided by the chapter.

The plan is to meet on Friday, Oct. 14 at 10 am at the Orange Street Exit to carpool and fish all afternoon.  The WSCTU did this in August and we had a great day catching 75 trout.  The fishing should be even better this trip.

If you are interested please email Ladd at lknotek@mt.gov or 542-5506 to confirm by Friday so we can plan numbers and coordinate travel and lunches. This study will help FWP learn about how catchable sterile cutthroat are relative to normal, cutthroat trout that are wild or periodically stocked. These lakes have no natural trout reproduction and FWP has stocked equal numbers and sizes of the two forms of cutthroat trout over the last 5 years.

Join in and fish for a day to help Fish Science
