Riparian Buffer Shade Tree Project - Planting Event #1

Groups audience
Saturday, May 10th, 2014 - 1:30pm

We will be planting trees as part of our Riparian Buffer Shade Tree Project on Saturday, May 10. We will have two separate crews planting at two different locations.

Boy Scouts from Troop 131 will be helping us at the township's Harris-York Open Space Area, near the confluence of the Swabia Creek and the Little Lehigh. Access to this project area will be through the Wild Cherry Knoll gated community on Wild Cherry Lane. Because this is private property, we have been given specific requirements for using their property as a short cut. Anyone wishing to help out with this planting location should contact Project Coordinator Scott Alderfer at salderfer@gmail.com to get updated info about meeting location to get access.

The second project location for this date will be at Lower Macungie Township's Kratzer Farm, located on Willow Lane across from Willows Restaurant in East Texas. Volunteers should pull into the driveway for the farm and park on the shoulder of the driveway. Then walk across the bridge to the other side of the creek where the trees will be planted.

Volunteers should bring a shovel and a pair of work gloves. Email and questions to salderfer@gmail.com.
