Submitted by gmetras on Mon, 2017-10-09 16:27 Groups audience Pioneer Valley - 276 Massachusetts/Rhode Island Council - 9MA Vote Up Down +7 + Cops &B 2 10-7-17.JPG Cops & Bobbers Back to Gallery Amherst Police Cops & Bobbers October 7, 2017 at the Cronin Research facility pond in Sunderland Jennifer Lapis of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service organized the event along with the Amherst Police Department, Mass Fish & Wildlife, and Pioneer Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited. A couple dozen kids, most for the first time, got to experience the joys of fishing. Each went home with a prize and a story to tell their family. Thanks to chapter members who volunteered: Jerry Eves, Terry Connolly and his grandson, Brogan, George Dunham and his granddaughter, Syna, Gary Metras and his granddaughter, Piper. Cops & Bobbers is a nation-wide program designed to teach kids fishing. The goal of Cops & Bobbers is to get kids hooked on fishing rather than drugs and crime, and to show cops in a positive and friendly manner. This is the second time this year that the chapter has helped with a C&B experience: the Springfield event took place at Forest Park in April.
