Annual Meeting Update September 9

Fishing conditions continue to improve, and the outlook for great fishing during the upcoming TU Annual Meeting in Bozeman is great!  The weather has cooled off, dramatically, we've had snow in the mountains, and river temperatures have dropped into the perfect range for good fishing!  

I floated the upper Yellowstone in the section downstream of Gardiner, MT just outside Yellowstone Park, two days ago, and the fishing was excellent.  Pat Weddle and his son Kevin, Placerville, CA TU Chapter members, and I floated from the Gardiner Airiport down to Joe Brown fishing access, and we had LOTS of action on dry flies including 'hoppers, Chubbies, and a variety of attractor dry flies.  Trout AND Mountain Whitefish were plentiful, in great shape, and showed ABSOLUTELY NO SIGNS of stress from the recent PKD outbreak.  So, for those of you who are concerned about fishing on the heels of the PKD outbreak, there's NO REASON FOR CONCERN!  Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is rolling back closures on most of the Yellowstone, should have them ALL off by our meeting, and they've also removed the "hoot owl", no noon to midnight fishing, on all of our rivers except for sections of the Big Hole and the Jefferson.
