Are you up for the GRTU Tomorrow Fund Challenge? The 066 - Guadalupe River chapter (GRTU) has a hunch. They're thinking that chapters and councils across the country care about engaging the next generation of river stewards as much as they do in Texas. So when they heard TU’s Headwaters Youth Program could use a hand, they decided to do something about it. And they think you will too. You see, TU’s Youth Program operates much the same as our conservation work. Staff members write grants and leverage funds, we create partnerships and garner industry support to sustain and expand TU’s youth work across the country. Programs like STREAM Girls and the TU Costa 5 Rivers college network would still be a dream without these funds. But these funds are variable and cannot be guaranteed year after year. GRTU’s Tomorrow Fund aims to ensure that there is indeed a bright and sunny tomorrow for TU’s youth engagement efforts. An annual $10,000 donation from GRTU will serve as the spring board to inspire chapters, councils, industry partners, and individuals to give any donation, small or large, to reach our annual fundraising goal. These funds will sustain and strengthen TU’s grassroots and national connection with young people from kindergarten through college. GRTU’s Council Chair Phil Dopson emphasized there is a critical need for the TU Tomorrow Fund, adding, “There is no more important business of TU than educating our youth.” We want to turn $10K into $40K and we are well on our way, folks! When the 522 – Rabun chapter contributed their annual $1,000 to the Headwaters program earlier this year, GRTU’s TU Tomorrow Fund matched it. Two additional chapters have stepped up for the cause: 258 – Mianus chapter of Connecticut and 185 – Spring Creek chapter of Pennsylvania have contributed $250 and $100 respectively. Feeling inspired? You can donate right now to help foster the next generation of river stewards. Your money will go directly toward the GRTU Tomorrow Fund, click here to donate. No problem. You can still help by spreading the word. Stay tuned for newsletter templates and social media posts you can share in your communities. Update Jan 2018: Since this was written for the June Lines to Leaders, more chapters and councils have stepped up to the Challenge! We exeeded our fundraising goal of a total of $40K with $20K coming from GRTU in the form of mathcing funds. To contribute this year visit www.tu.org/tomorrowfund GRTU_logo.jpg
