The Women’s Initiative Program is a success! To date, there are now over 2300 women who have taken advantage of the free membership and donated over $6000 in conservation funds across the U.S.On a local level, NJ saw a boost in membership. Currently, throughout the state there are over 150 women anglers that are TU members. The continued increase in women membership showcases the individual interest in angling and conservation that is growing among women. Local chapters have reported at State Council increased attendance of women at monthly meetings as well as projects and outings. If you attend your chapter meeting, consider bringing a friend or neighbor who might be open to the idea of coldwater conservation. If you are interested in working with your chapter on organizing or planning an event, please do not hesitate to reach out to either myself or your chapter officers and board members. The upcoming months will provide time for solitude on the streams and quiet reflection on our techniques and the time to set goals for the 2014 year. There are a few events worth mentioning for the interested angler: 1- Fly Tying Symposium, 11/23- 11/24 www.internationalflytyingsymposium.com 2- Somerset Fly Fishing Show and possible women’s round table, 1/24-1/26 www.flyfishingshow.com 3- Local chapter meetings/outings www.njtu.org for list of NJ chapters On the technological front, there is a section on the newly designed Council page for women anglers. Content is updated frequently. Be sure to check it out at www.njtu.org/index.php/women Also, there is a NJ women’s group located on the new TU website. Go to http://www.tu.org/connect/groups/node-44 to be part of the conversation. In addition, if you are part of an active group of women fishing in your area, perhaps we can plan an evening out for drinks and food items and talk about TU’s mission and the future of women anglers in NJ. Look forward to hearing from you! kebuchta@njtu.org
