( Jerry presented to our Chapter March 21, 2018 and is pleased to return for another talk about making bamboo fly rods.) We will have many bamboo rods there for you to handle and cast. We are making part of the meeting room a casting area. Jerry is known in the fly fishing community as a Master Craftsman bamboo rod maker. He was one of the tiny group of cane rod builders who ran the R.L Winston Rod Co bamboo shop and then he and Glenn Bracket left to launch Sweetgrass Rods in Twin Bridges, Montana. He’s also a talented writer of many books, At the River’s Edge, A Wisp in the Wind, Around the next Bend, A Fly Angler’s Journey, Holy Water, Fly Fishing for Great Lakes Steelhead. Author, devoted environmentalist, bamboo rod designer, and dedicated angler, he spends much time on the road as a fly fishing ambassador lecturing on and representing the ideals for which all serious fly anglers stand. Please come and say hi to Jerry Kustich even if you met him in March! One of our TU members, Wayne Grauer, will be bringing bamboo rods and will assist in the presentation.
