I will let the words of Coulee TU's Will Lusignan and the pictures from the outing speak to the success of the event! Well done Coulee TU! Today was the 1st outing of the Coulee Chapter Trout Unlimited Veterans Service Partnership. The idea came to me months back while I was thumbing through a current TU magazine and read about various chapters across the United States helping our Nations Veterans experience the joys of fishing and camaraderie that can go along with it. Veterans often miss the brotherhood of belonging after leaving service; I know I did. Today two Military retirees Gysgt Paul Norman USMC ret and HMC Will Lusignan USN ret assisted two LaCrosse area Veterans Sierra and Andrew experience fly fishing for the 1st time. Battling the sun and some stream bank overgrowth the two anglers never missed a beat and enjoyed catching Brown and Brook trout on local Driftless area streams. The young Veterans bonded immediately with the old salty Marine and Sailor. Gear support came from the Driftless Angler fly shop in Viroqua Wi who's owners Mat and Geri have always lent a helping hand to area organizations needing gear and expertise.
