LETTER FROM CHAPTER PRESIDENT JUNE 2024

June, it’s official! Summer is here, and the temperatures have been brutal. We are overdue for some rain on top of that. The bright spot is my grass is hardly growing, as my joy of mowing the yard left the station years ago. I would rather spend the afternoon chilling by the water than pushing a mower through crabgrass.

We want to thank everyone who came out to our summer series of fly tying at Dead End BBQ in April and May. We had great turnouts and packed houses as experienced and new tiers learned some new patterns for summer including the infamous “Cicada-geddon” fly. Thanks to Smoky Mountain Angler of Knoxville and manager Chad Fouts for his assistance.

We do not have a June chapter meeting as many members and families are traveling this month. Our next chapter meting is one of my personal favorites each year. We will be meeting at River John’s on the Little River. This is our annual picnic with the Little River TU chapter. We provide the burgers and dogs all you need to bring is a side item to share with all. Fishing is allowed and smallmouth is a feature in the warmer waters at River John’s see below for all the details.

Remember to follow us on the GSM TU Facebook page and the chapter website. Our Facebook page is the best way to see the latest chapter and updates. As always, we remind you that Trout Unlimited membership is never required for a GSM TU event or meetings. All are welcome!
