Below are a few opportunities, with more to come—sign up now! Morgan Run Fishing Meet-up: March 26th, 2pm Join fellow MDTU members to fish Morgan Run—a nearby stocked catch-and-release fly fishing stream that is simply gorgeous. Morgan Run holds both wild and stocked trout this time of year. Work on your early spring nymphing and get the winter rust out! We'll meet at 2pm to discuss nymphing tips and tricks, buddy up for some fishing and then check back in at the end. All ages, experience levels, genders, etc. more than welcome. Group size is limited so call or email outing leader Darin Crew ASAP if you would like to join: darinashleycrew@gmail.com or 443-629-6285. Location: Morgan Run at Klees Mill Road. Trout in the Classroom Spring Releases: Multiple Locations & Dates Students throughout Baltimore (and beyond) will soon begin releasing the trout they have raised under the guidance of MDTU volunteers in this year’s Trout in the Classroom program. We need volunteers to assist with these fun, streamside educational events. Contact Tom Gamper at tgamper@smgarch.com to learn more. City Catch Youth Fishing Event: April 8, 8:30am (Fish stocking April 6, 10am) MDTU's annual City Catch event is scheduled for Saturday, April 8. In partnership with Baltimore City Recreation and Parks, MDTU volunteers will once again introduce the fun of trout fishing, and the importance of conservation, to nearly 100 Baltimore City students this spring. We need volunteers on two days. On Thursday, April 6th, we will stock 800 trout in Dead Run in Leakin Park. Fish stocking, always a fun and interesting activity, will take place Thursday morning beginning at approximately 10am. City Catch itself is on Saturday, April 8th. We need anglers to help kids fish. No special experience or expertise (beyond very basic fishing skills with light spinning tackle) are required. On the 8th, volunteer orientation begins at 8:30am, the students arrive at 9:00am, and lunch is between noon and 1:00pm. Click here to volunteer for City Catch Brook Trout Habitat Stream Monitoring: April 22, 12pm After an extremely successful first year of data collection, it’s now time to re-deploy our stream temperature loggers in support of the Upper Gunpowder Brook Trout Partnership! Teams of volunteers will place loggers in pre-selected locations in streams within the Upper Gunpowder watershed. Orientation will take place at Christmas Tree Park in Manchester, MD at noon on April 22; deployment will take approximately four hours. Volunteer teams are being formed now, so please notify Adam Nabors ASAP if you’d like to participate at anabors@eqri.com.
