Submitted by tara.granke on Thu, 2016-05-19 13:14 Stream Explorers Trout & Salmon in the Classroom (TIC/SIC) Conservation TU Teens Vote Up Down +15 + schol1.jpg Third-grade teacher Lisa Marks stands in front of her classroom's winning artwork. by Joe Mark Earlier this week, Ludlow Elementary School's Lisa Marks and her third grade students got some very good news. Lisa had entered a book her classroom created into Scholastic Magazine's national "Kids Are Authors" competition. The wonderful book is composed of Trout in the Classroom-inspired water color paintings and text. This is the 30th year of this prestigious award, which annually receives 1,500 to 2,000 entries. Scholastic awards a first place winner and 25 honorable mentions. Never before has a Vermont school made the list, but in the final year of the Scholastic competition, LES was awarded an honorable mention. schol.jpg Many pages of the book, such as the one above, depict the life-cycle of trout. Students watch trout grow from eggs to fry as part of their Trout in the Classroom experience. I addition to this very special honor, Ludlow Elementary will be able to purchase $500 worth of books of their choice. Congratulations Lisa and students!
