A helping hand

I'm relatively new to fly fishing for trout. I don't really know where any of the streams are in SE MN. I'm having a hard time locating some fishable areas. I'm not looking for a guided trip, but someone that can help point me to some easy access streams. I'm already pretty versatile with lakes, warm water species, and tying certain flies. I'm willing to be the driver to and from these streams, that are within a couple of hours of Bloomington, MN.

There's easy access to the Whitewater River in Whitewater State Park.  The best way to find local streams and access to them is to purchase the "Minnesota Atlas & Gazetteer" by Delorme, book of topo maps.  Best 'fishing' investment you'll ever make!

That makes sense. I own one, but I wasn't really thinking of it. I'll take a better look at it today. Thanks for the reminder.

Trout Run Creek outside of Chatsfield has some very nice access areas. There are some very good access in Preston for the Root River and one of my favorite places is "Forestville" State Park.  Good fly fishing and easy access areas with wonderful camping facilities.
