Cohocton River Shade Enhancement Project

Groups audience

Several sites throughout the Cohocton River Watershed have been targeted for riparian restoration as part of another joint project between the Canandaigua Lake TU Chapter and the Cohocton River Valley TU Chapter. In early October TU volunteers completed another planting along the Cohocton River in western New York. Working with private landowners and Region 8 New York State Department of Environmental Protection, sites were chosen by TU to help reduce in-stream temperatures and provide organic material and cover on several reaches througout the Cohocton River watershed as part of the Cohocton River Shade Enhancement Project.

The Millennium Stream Improvement Fund financed this project. Interested in learning more about the Millennium Stream Improvement Project? Check out http://www.tu.org/tu-projects/catskill-stream-improvement. (Photo Al Krause)
