Trip Planning - TU Style

I think it should be a built in perk to use the resource of each other when considering fishing trips to new states. I have always been forthright with information to most fellow TU'ers regarding places to fish, how to get there, and what to expect in my state. Local knowledge is always the key to a leap in the learning curve. If you already know a general area you plan to go, it makes sense to contact a local fly shop. However, if I just want to go to fish a new state to catch a new species or see something new...why not rely on each other as TU leaders to get an edge on a great trip. We should be ambassadors to all but especially to each other regarding the fishing in our states. One time I had to travel to a new area on business and reached out beforehand to a TU leader to figure out what opportunities were in the area. He didn't even respond to my email. What a shame.

I hope that we can build on the comeraderie and momentum we have going to grow TU interdependently with each other. I also think it makes sense to build fishing relations with each other when appropriate. I know West Virginia isn't normally thought of as a "destination fishery", but the Mountain State is my home and I know it well. Should any of you that dedicate so much of your life to TU find yourselves running from the Hatfields and McCoys, hiding from the revenuers, or searching for the curviest roads in America; be sure to give me a shout.
