Lemhi Push-Up Dam Removal

Goals

TU's goal is to remove a channel-wide push-up diversion dam on the Lemhi River and replace it with an electric pump pressurized system to deliver 1.1  cfs. Annual construction and maintenance of the push-up dam is destructive to the Lemhi channel and threatens ESA listed stocks of Chinook salmon, steelhead and bull trout which use this lower reach of the Lemhi as a migratory corridor.

Tactics

TU staff will partner with the Bureau of Reclamation for permitting and engineering support to design an instream pump station. We'll also assist irrigators on the diversion ditch to identify federal grants to defray costs of the new delivery system.
