Video spotlight: Winter Rises

It's been a long winter here in the West—most of us in the Rockies can still see snow on the grass. Winter's not done with us yet, but if you're like me, a little sunshine goes a long way—fishing with snow lining the river isn't always a bad thing when the sky is blue.

But this winter has been tough. I've been recovering from back surgery, so not only haven't I been fishing, I couldn't go if I wanted to. And with great winter trout streams within an hour's drive, it's been a bit torturous.

Winter Rises - Fishing Big Dry Flies in January

Thanks to the folks at Trouts Fly Shop in Denver, I got a little taste of what I'm missing. The short film above was just what the doctor ordered: a reminder that winter fishing is cold ... and that it can be quite good, too. As the back heals, I'll keep this on the short list. Thanks guys.
