The project will take place at the Schenck's Island open space on River Road in Wilton.Chapter volunteers will be installing a conifer revetment to help remove road sand and sediment from the river, reinforce the weakened bank from further erosion and provide critical habitat for the juvenile wild brown trout in the river. We will also plant several dozen native willow and other shrubs to provide shade to the river and protection for trout from birds and other predators. No special skills are needed for the project, just some simple muscle power and a willingness to spend 3 hour restoring a threatened section of river. Email Jeff Yates for details and instructions.
