Stile Building Project

Groups audience
Saturday, September 10th, 2022 - 7:00am

GBTU is teaming up with the Lee Wulff TU Chapter to build and install Stiles on Saturday September 10th. We will meet up at the clubhouse at the West Fork Sports Club at 7am, and work until noon. Bring your fishing gear so you can fish the fabulous Timber Coulee stream afterward! We recommend work clothes: pants, long sleeves, boots, gloves, hat and sunscreen. Beverages and snacks will be provided. (bring your own lunch)

Stiles are gates built into a barbed wire (or electric) fence. They keep the cattle out, and give anglers a way to safely access a stream.  TU works with DNR and other conservation organizations who coordinate with farmers/property owners on conservation easements or fishing access across their property.

We plan to install 3 Stiles on Saturday, September 10th.  The first will be on Berge Coulee on the Ray Johnson property and the other two on David Bean’s Property. Here are the directions from West Fork Sports Club (Avalanche) to Ray Johnson Property on Cty Rd X (a 24 minute drive):

The GBTU chapter has teamed up for years with LWTU to build stiles, and we welcome you to join us for the morning on this wonderful conservation opportunity. If you have any questions, please contact Bill Davis.
