Volunteers Needed for Brook Trout Conservation Project

It's once again time to recover our Stream Temperature Loggers! Volunteers will be retrieving the (17) loggers deployed last spring as part of the Upper Gunpowder Watershed Brook Trout Conservation Partnership.

This Saturday (11.2.19) from 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm.

Please join us if you can and if you know anyone who may like to help please invite them along too. The more volunteers we have, the faster we complete our task.

THIS LOGGER RECOVERY WILL OCCUR RAIN OR SHINE.

What to Bring:
* Waders or hip boots, hat, weather specific clothing, sunscreen, etc. (Dress like you're going fishing!)
* A Smartphone (for Google Maps and the camera)
* A navigation device (smartphone, GPS, road map, homing pigeon, trail of breadcrumbs, a decent sense of direction, etc.)
* A notepad and pen
* Work gloves
* Water and snacks necessary for an afternoon in the field

Where to meet:

A Field Operations office will be setup for the day at Christmas Tree Park in Manchester, MD. This is where we'll meet to separate into crews, assign logger locations, and distribute equipment for logger recovery. Please plan to be here by noon on Saturday, 11.2.

Christmas Tree Park - 3383 Christmas Tree Lane, Manchester, MD 21102 -
 

Detail of Activities:
* 12:00 - All volunteers arrive at Christmas Tree Park. Lunch will be provided.
* 12:00 to 12:30 - Crew members are introduced and receive their equipment (sledge hammer, hard copy maps and photos, detailed Notes of each logger placement, etc.)
* 12:30 to 3:00 - Crews travel to their individual sites for logger recovery. Once a crew's loggers have all been recovered, they will return to Christmas Tree Park.
* 3:00 - All crews should be back to Christmas Tree Park
* 3:00 to 3:30 - Crews turn in all tools and equipment
* 3:30 - All done (go fishing!)
