Mouth of Montreal
Posted in
River level is a little high for this time of the year, but still very fishable.  I saw no fish rising and a few other fisherman were there with no success.  A group of kayakers came up to the falls from Saxon Harbor.

Tyler Forks high flow

Above is a very unusual ring of foam created by the swift current. Tyler Forks is still producing Brook Trout despite the recent rain fall.  Stream level is high.  Trout are hitting on streamers and wet flies.

Mouth of Montreal blown out today

The Mouth of the Montreal is over the banks today.  Due to the warming trend and the last of the snow melting.  The river is about 2 feet higher than Wed. Apr. 13th.  What a difference 2 days can make.  The Wild Rivers Chapter held an outing on Wednesday afternoon and water levels were great.   [ READ MORE... ]

Montreal River Mouth
Posted in
Mouth of the Montreal River levels are great for fishing. I walked down the hill today to check out the water levels. I found this interesting rock formation along the lake bank. Checking with one fisherman he said his buddies landed 2 browns and one coaster brookie last week.

Today was a balmy 52 degrees and I threw my switch rod into the pickup and drove from Hurley to Saxon.  I had waders, snowshoes and muck boots because I wasn't sure what I would find.  Well as you can see the pools are still frozen and the trail down to the river mouth is dangerously icy.  Keep [ READ MORE... ]
